Generation Iraq is constructing the Olive Branch Living Memorial, planting olive trees in memory of American soldiers lost in Operation Iraqi Freedom.

In addition to honoring the memory of fallen soldiers, the trees will have a positive impact on Iraq’s environment, helping reverse the devastating effects of deforestation under Saddam Hussein’s regime. Also, the work of maintaining the land and harvesting olives and/or dates will employ Iraqis currently living in poverty. The sale of olives, olive oil, and dates will help stimulate the economy in Iraq, as well as generate funds to maintain the orchards.

For each donation of $20, a tree will be planted in living memorial, or a name will be engraved on a plaque. You may submit the name of an individual to honor via e-mail to cassie@generationiraq.org. If you do not have a name to submit, or if a tree has already been planted in memory of your submission, Generation Iraq will identify another individual to be honored.

You may also choose to make annual donations of $5 per birthday, anniversary, or other event to have a memorial flower placed near the tree of your loved one.  Please e-mail cassie@generationiraq.org or call 847-814-5905 to learn more.

The Olive Branch Living Memorial, dedicated to the memory of fallen soldiers and civilians who sought freedom for victims of tyranny and dictatorship, stands as a reminder of sacrifices made in the quest to protect humanity and human rights.  It exists as a place of comfort and reconciliation for all families grieving the tragedies of conflict.  This memorial is created for and from people committed to peace by promoting friendship and reconciliation between all nations and Iraq, without advocating a political position or agenda.

In the event of a program being fully funded, Generation Iraq reserves the right to designate donations to other areas as needed.
