Design Contest
Generation Iraq, a 501(c)3 organization dedicated to improving the lives of individuals and communities in Iraq, is holding a design competition for two war memorials in Iraq. One will commemorate the lives of Americans killed during the conflict, and the other will memorialize the lives of Iraqis killed since March, 2003. The Iraqi memorial will reside on the same land as a grove of date palm trees planted in memory of the deceased. The American memorial will be erected among the acres of olive trees planted in memory of American forces killed in Iraq.
In addition to honoring the memory of fallen soldiers, the trees will have a positive impact on Iraq’s environment and help reverse the devastating effects of deforestation under Saddam Hussein’s regime. Also, the work of maintaining the land and harvesting olives and/or dates will employ Iraqis currently living in poverty.
Be creative in your design(s). You can submit one for each memorial forest, or design for a specific memorial. There is no limit to how many designs you can submit; there is a $15 entrance fee per design. The only limitation is that the final structure be less than 1000 square feet.

Prize: $300, as well as the esteem of winning an international memorial competition and having your design viewed by millions of people.
Conditions of Entry: This contest is open to the public.
Determination of winners: Winners will be selected by Generation Iraq’s board of directors in autumn, 2010, and will be notified individually. The winner’s design will also appear on our website, www.generationiraq.org. If the winner is unreachable after 7 days of contest draw or unavailable for prize fulfillment, an alternate winner will be selected from all remaining eligible entries received. All decisions are final and binding in all respects relating to this contest.
TERMS AND CONDITIONS: All entries must be complete, including entrant's details, and e-mailed/postmarked by 11:59 PM (US CST) August 31, 2010.

Generation Iraq reserves the right to show your design in print and electronic materials.
