Once a leading Arab nation and a center of culture in the Arab world, known for its high standard of education, scholars, and intellectuals, Iraq now struggles to improve its educational system and bring its people into the 21st century. Libraries, books, maps, and other teaching aides are all scarce and even non-existent in many parts of the country.
Our hope is to establish libraries around Iraq, fill them with a wealth of books on every subject, magazines, periodicals, computers, and ultimately even provide training programs and workshops with these libraries on a variety of topics relevant to the local community.
Your support is needed to bring Iraq back to its glory and donations of books and funds to ship the books are welcome. Please contact us to learn more about how you can help.
Generation Iraq is currently involved in the establishment of libraries in various remote regions around Iraq. Our next major project is for a library to be set up in the village of Halabja, a town that, to this day, still reels from the devastation caused by Saddam's chemical attack on its inhabitants in March of 1988.
Our Growth Through Books program is aimed at ensuring that every city, town, and village in Iraq, no matter how remote, will have access to a local library and books to enrich the lives of its citizens.
