Generation Iraq is a registered 501(c)3 non-profit organization created for change through improving the lives of individuals and communities in Iraq. This vision is tempered by the realization that after the war in Iraq, the country is far from ideal at this time and there is much work and sacrifice required to realize the vision. Generation Iraq was conceived and founded by Tamara Quinn, an American-Iraqi dedicated to a vision of Iraq as it can and should be.

After the war in 2003, Tamara felt the need to be involved with helping Iraq rebuild and reshape itself. She began Generation Iraq in 2006. Since then, we have implemented numerous programs serving Iraqis in need.
Generation Iraq provides:

1. Wheelchairs for the disabled injured in violence
2. School supplies, books, musical instruments, and athletic equipment for Iraqi orphans and other disadvantaged youth
3. Job training and career counseling for Iraqi widows and single mothers, as well as Iraqi youth
4. An outlet for Iraqi women and teens to share their experiences of war in a creative, therapeutic way
5. Support for the basic needs of orphans
6. A forum for American and Iraqi students to learn about each others’ cultures in a pen pal program
7. The opportunity for individuals to foster reconciliation and commemorate the lives of fallen American soldiers

All of this is possible through the financial and material contributions of our donors, and their efforts to tell friends and family about our projects. An intensely profound impact occurs in those we support through the knowledge that they are valued, respected, and cared for. The impact that has on an individual’s sense of personal worth and dignity is immeasurable. The positive opportunities given to the children of Iraq have a long-term international impact as well, in that education and care have a positive correlation with decreases in terrorism.
