Iraqi OrphansWith the current
violence, the number of orphans is increasing
daily. Their need includes clothing for winter
and vocational training courses. Generation Iraq
is in direct contact with Baet Al-Toufil
orphanage; home to the young boys pictured here.
It is our hope that these boys will each receive
sponsorship of $25/month to provide for clothing
and vocational training. Each orphan would be in
direct contact with his sponsor and our staff in
Baghdad will assure that letters are translated
to English and sent via the internet to the
sponsor.
Generation Iraq is also helping orphaned
girls at the St. Hanna orphanage, pictured here.
These young ladies are in need of sponsorship of
$25/month, and they will also be able to
exchange email with their sponsors through the
offices of Generation Iraq.
Older boys need vocational training such as
in carpentry or welding to allow them means of
making a living beyond their time at the
orphanage.
Violence and terrorism are fueled by the lack
of hope and opportunity facing those young men.
With vocational training, they have opportunity
for employment, and hope for a better life. It
costs Generation Iraq approximately $5000 to
train 30 students in carpentry.
